AI-native game studio system where Discord agents build the simulations while humans steer and create content.

Write-up Latent Labs

The 3D portfolio you're exploring right now was built entirely by Holodeck.

The challenge

Making a game means coordinating dozens of interlocking workflows: design, engineering, art, testing, and the pipelines that join them. Most of that coordination is what slows a small studio down. We are making Oracle of Olympus, a Greek-mythology farming sim, as a studio of two, so the question was: can agents absorb the coordination and the building, so two people can make a game that would normally need a large team?

What I built

Holodeck acts as a studio where humans steer and agents build. We are in charge of direction, taste and content: the story, the art, the world. Agents build what we ask for, integrate what we provide, test it, and bring it back to us for feedback.

A session starts in Discord. We post a goal, for example: "Being able to walk around the main floor of the Oracle Tower, as this is where the player saves, loads, and stores checkpoints." Agents break that goal into a roadmap of smaller tasks, a fleet of agents picks them up, and the results come back for us to review on a live map of the work.

How it came together

Agents go wrong in predictable ways, so the guardrails are built in: tests are written first, every pull request goes through layered adversarial reviews, and our playtesting loop means we can roll back to an earlier version if an agent's change breaks something.

One rule shapes everything: no generative AI art. People author the content. That makes us, not the agents, the bottleneck today, which is the trade we chose.

What happened

The studio is live and building. It built this portfolio end to end. Oracle of Olympus is in pre-production, and nobody outside the studio has played it yet.

What I'd take forward

The same setup can prototype three experience concepts for a client pitch in a week. Start with a planning session with stakeholders to set goals, requirements and timeline. Agents break all three concepts down at once, mapping shared dependencies and parallel work. The fleet builds while the humans get pinged only for content, decisions and feedback.
